TEEN ACNE PRODUCT OVERVIEW
When puberty sets in and those teen hormones start raging, more often than not teen acne results. In a nutshell, the hormonal changes that are going on in a teen's body cause the oil glands to step up the pace and produce more sebum (oil). Simultaneously, your body is shedding dead skin cells which are mixing with the skin's oils and coming to rest in the hair follicles, which in turn causes them to become clogged. Add to the mix germs and bacteria and you have a recipe for blackheads, whiteheads, papules (pimples without pus), pustules (pimples with pus), and worse-case scenario cystic nodular type of acne. Fortunately, there are teenage acne products on the market that can help many a teen to get rid of acne. If you have just started experiencing breakouts, here are few inexpensive OTC options that you can obtain from your local drugstore. As an esthetician I would recommend that you consider trying these products before stepping it up a bit with more involved and expensive acne treatment programs. Clean & Clear Morning Burst In-Shower Facial - This product contains glycolic acid, which is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that is known for its ability to penetrate the skin, along with improving the skin's texture and appearance, while providing exfoliating properties. It also contains clay, which is an excellent ingredient for pulling excess oil, dead skin cells, and cellular debris from the pores. Clearasil StayClear Acne Fighting Cleansing Wipes - This is a great product that not only quickly cleanses the skin but also contains salicylic acid, which is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA). This BHA will slough off the dead skin cells that are all too ready to clog up your hair follicles and do their part to cause outbreaks. Because this product is in a wipe form, it's perfect for the teen on the go who might need to do a quick cleanse after gym class. Neutrogena Oil-Free Stress Control 3-In-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment - This is another wonderful product that contains 2% salicylic acid. It's a great choice if blackheads are at the forefront of your problems; however, it is formulated for any skin type that needs a BHA attack on pimples. Sensitive and/or inflamed skin will appreciate the exclusion of irritating ingredients like alcohol and menthol. Unfortunately, it does contain some fragrance and coloring. If the above products have not worked for you or your acne seems to be on a fast track to Acneville, then you might want to consider commencing a full-on teenage acne treatment program. Here are a few options that are perfect for teen acne: Clear Pores - This is a 3-step program. The products are geared toward stopping outbreaks at the root. This product line will help to reduce redness, the appearance of swelling and scarring, and eliminate dry flaky skin. For more info, visit the Clear Pores website. Clear Skin MAX - This is a natural 5-step acne treatment program. The products are formulated to treat and control the symptoms, and reduce future breakouts. For more info about this product line, visit the Clear Skin MAX website. Acne No More - This is a great compliment to any acne treatment and it targets the underlying cause(s) of teenage acne.
