SYMPTOMS OF ROSACEA, ACNE ROSACEA & CHARACTERISTICS

Rosacea generally develops over time and becomes progressively worse left untreated. There are an array of symptoms of rosacea and characteristics for each symptom. To help you understand these rosacea symptoms, I've categorized each of them as follows:

Pre Rosacea

Redness - The most common occurrence of rosacea is redness, which results from hundreds of tiny dilated blood vessels that are near the skin's surface that have become inflamed.

Broken Capillaries or Couperose - When blood vessels have broken and remain dilated for extended periods of time, the redness intensifies and becomes more permanent. Generally, broken capillaries are found around the mouth and nose, but they may also be located on other areas of the face.

Vascular Rosacea

Red Lines - This involves the formation of thin, red lines, which are blood vessels, that look like spiderwebs and generally appear on the cheeks.

Excess Oil & Dandruff - The skin and in particular, the nose and cheeks, tend to have excessive oiliness. In addition, a person may find an onset of dandruff.

Rough Skin - Because of all the swelling and capillary damage taking place, the skin might develop some rough patches.

Inflammatory Rosacea

Pimples & Pustules - In the redness, small pimples may occur that are distinguished by their red domed appearance, which is entirely different from an acne pimple. You won't find blackheads and whiteheads among acne rosacea. Left untreated, pustules will develop.

Ocular Rosacea Symptoms

Eye Irritation & Ocular Rosacea - The eyes may experience symptoms of redness, tearing, burning, dryness, gritty eyes, crusting, along with eyelid swelling, pinkeye and styes. In severe cases, the vision might become damaged.

Rosacea Rhinophyma

Rhinophyma - This is a condition usually found in men that exhibits itself in the form of swollen bumps on the nose due to growth in the sebaceous glands. It gives the nose an appearance of being bulbous, red and enlarged.
