POP THAT ZIT OVERVIEW
The following steps should precede any pimple popping, to insure that your canvas is adequately prepared. Follow the steps listed below and you will be preparing your skin as an esthetician would do. When you are contemplating whether to engage in pimple popping or take a pass, remember that the pimple should be in the final stages. You know what I mean, the pus is practically falling out on its own. The yellowish-white substance is about to squirt out without much coaxing. If the pimple hasn't formed a head and it is only has a red, irritated and inflamed look, do not pop that zit! You will definitely make matters worse and increase the likelihood of creating a scar. Cleanse - Before you commence your pimple popping fest, be sure to first wash your hands with an antibacterial soap to remove all germs, dirt and bacteria. Then you can proceed to cleanse your face thoroughly with a water-based cleanser; you want to start with a clean surface and not just attack that zit. Astringent - Follow your cleansing with an appropriate astringent, which is used for oily and acneic skin to help remove the excess oils that tend to sprout upon the face. Exfoliate - Exfoliate your skin with a light scrub or peel, which contains glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, or azelaic acid. A clay-lifting type of mask is another option that can also help to exfoliate the skin. Soften Pores - Next, you will want to soften your pores so when you get ready to pop that zit, things will go more smoothly. You can use warm towels or steam, but be careful not to use the steam too long or have the towels be too hot. Doing so will only serve to damage your capillaries and create irritation and redness. Now for the moment of truth. Manual extractions will allow you to remove impurities from your skin that clog your pores. By cleaning out the debris, which is causing them to expand from being filled with pimple "gunk", will make it possible for your pores to return to their normal size. The process of manual extraction also allows for the fluids and bacteria to be released and removed from your papules (pimples without pus) and pustules (pimples with pus). There are three methods that you can employ to perform extractions. You can use a comedone extractor, cotton swabs, or wrap your index fingers with damp cotton. It is necessary for you to put pressure on the skin that surrounds the area in which you are extracting, so not to traumatize the tissue around that area. In order to pop that zit, you must work on understanding the various angles of your face so you will be able to accomplish your zit popping effectively. Popping Zits On Chin, Upper Cheekbones & Forehead - When popping zits on the chin, upper cheekbones, and forehead you will want to press down around the surrounding skin, and then proceed to press under the pimple, and finish by going upward. This is done in one fluid movement, which may have to be repeated a few times in order to clear the pimple. Zit Popping On Cheeks - When you pop that zit on a cheek, you will want to slide your fingers down the cheek while holding the skin taut as your proceed. The lower hand will ultimately be responsible for holding the skin in place, while the upper hand does the sliding and pressing to push out the debris inside of the pimple. Pimple Popping On Nose - When you do zit popping on the nose, the sliding and holding is similar to the procedure for the cheek. The lower hand will slide down the side of the nose and hold firmly without applying too much pressure to the nose cartilage. The fingers on the top hand will then slide down towards the bottom hand while pressing gently in a downward fashion. Apply pressure with your fingers upon the nose only in a vertical fashion, never horizontally. Once again, this process will need to be repeated a few times in order to eliminate the debris from the pimple. If you have trouble using your fingers, this is a great time to try out the cotton swab method. You do all of the above, except you use Q-Tips. Lancets & Needles - Now, estheticians in certain states are allowed to use lancets, which are basically disposable needles for the purpose of opening up a closed comedone. You probably won't be able to get your hands on a lancet, but you can certainly secure a needle and I'm sure you will. Just to be clear, I do not advocate your using a needle to pop that zit. However, I know you're gonna do it, so at least do it right. First of all, be sure to sterilize the needle completely before use. I recommend boiling water rather than the lighted match method as the match can leave some residue and that is the last thing you need to add to your acne. Very gently pierce the center of the pimple with the tip of the needle. A magnifying mirror works wonders for this process. Then proceed with the extraction in accordance with the instructions noted above for the various portions of the face. Pimple Popping Pus Clean Up - Whether you opt for cotton-wrapped fingers or Q-tips, be sure to change them out frequently. You don't want to spread bacteria to other parts of your face by allowing the debris that is extracted to touch other portions of your face. Be prepared with extra cotton strips and Q-tips. Hydrogen Peroxide - Once all the liquid has been removed, apply a little hydrogen peroxide to the areas where the pimples were located.
POP THAT ZIT CONCLUSION Now, that is how you properly pop that zit! However, this is something that should only be done in an emergency. It is much better to use an effective acne treatment regimen on a regular basis to get acne under control and manage it for the long-term.
