CLEAR SKIN TIPS - WE ARE WHAT WE EAT

What goes into the mouth will ultimately impact what we see in the mirror. Now, I will be the first to admit that this is a controversial statement. Most MDs will say, "Rubbish!" However, most naturopath doctors will say "Right on!" The only way you are going to know if what you eat has any impact upon your skin is to run a little test for yourself.

Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day will help to keep your skin properly hydrated. However, if you are also drinking carbonated soda and anything that contains caffeine this will be counterproductive and will deplete your skin of its hydration and moisture. In addition, the sugar content of these beverages will also wreak havoc with the health of your skin.

Speaking of sugar, that nasty sweet tooth is doing more than causing cavities. It is after all referred to as "white death." The negative impact that sugar has upon a body's health is immense. You won't suffer the harmful effects of sugar instantly, but over time and over the years you will find other issues come to the forefront. Replace those sugary high carb treats with fresh fruits and vegetables. Yes, it does take some time to make this transition; I know because I have done it myself. This is probably one of the best clear skin tips that I can give you, as it is also a tip for better overall health.

CLEAR SKIN TIPS - REDUCTION OF STRESS

Stress is a nasty little culprit in many ways. It infiltrates when we least expect it, takes up residency without invitation, and can cause a person's mind to spin out of control with worry. Aside from all of that, it can ultimately take a toll not only on the health of your body, but also be reflected in the quality of your skin. Stress can cause an increase in oil production and an enlargement of the oil glands, which in turn can cause an acne breakout.

Obviously, if you are able to eliminate stressful situations in your life, please do. However, more often than not we must learn to cope with the stress that comes our way so it does not take a toll on our health and we can maintain "happy" skin. One of the most important skin care tips for teens to learn early is how to reduce stress. This way you won't have a lifetime of problems. Start by learning how to do some deep breathing exercises to help you slow down and take five. Also practice being cool, calm and collected. This will help not only your skin, but your overall health.

CLEAR SKIN TIPS - ADEQUATE SLEEP

Lack of sleep is not going to cause acne to occur, nor is getting adequate sleep going to make it instantly disappear. However, insufficient sleep will work against resolving your acne. Therefore, try to get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night, as your body does its best healing while at rest.

Practice deep breathing techniques before going to bed to quiet the mind. You might also drink some Sleepytime tea which contains chamomile before going to bed. Another natural option to help you relax would be to take some melatonin when you get into bed. It takes about half an hour to take effect, so plan accordingly.

CLEAR SKIN TIPS - SUN PROTECTION

First of all, you will want to be sure to select a broad-spectrum sunscreen that has at least a 15 SPF. Also, you want to be sure it is a non-greasy formula so it does not exacerbate your oily and/or acneic skin.

In addition, you will want to find a hat or two that you are comfortable wearing so you can protect your lovely face from the ravages of the sun's UV rays. You'll want to select one that has a wide brim so it will protect your face.
