ACNE SKIN CARE TIPS
Lessen the severity of an acne breakout, prevent new lesions from forming, or eliminate acne completely by incorporating these acne tips into your daily regimen. Exercise - Exercise increases the flow of blood throughout the entire body; this includes the skin. This increase of blood flow also provides additional oxygen to the cells of the skin. Also, as you sweat, toxins are released and this ultimately improves the health of the skin. Aside from the overall improvement to all of your body's organs, exercise can also help to balance hormone levels and reduce stress, both of which have a negative impact upon existing acne and can be a precursor to the onset of acne. Glasses - For some, glasses and sunglasses resting on the nose and cheeks, cause breakouts. Be sure to keep the rims as clean as possible. Whenever possible, remove the glasses/sunglasses to give your face a break. Hair - If any of your hair sits upon the face, give it a rest at night. Pull it back and let your face breathe. Hands & Stuff - Keep your fingers, hands, palms, phones, etc. off your face! Think about everything your hands touch and all the dirt, grime, bacteria, and germs they encounter. Now picture yourself transferring that lovely concoction to your face every time you touch it. Obviously, this is the last thing acne needs. It thrives way too much as it is. Don't give it a boost. In addition, be sure to shampoo your hair regularly to lessen the additional oil resting on the forehead or brushing against the cheeks. Select shampoos and conditioners that have natural ingredients. Avoid ones that contain sodium lauryl sulfate, which is a chemical that creates the lather effect. This chemical can be extremely irritating to skin. Hats - If possible, try to wear the hat so it doesn't touch the forehead. This alleviates a sweating problem that can get trapped and mix with facial oil, and we all know the end result of that mixture. Makeup - Always select "noncomedogenic" or "acnegenic" makeup. This will help to alleviate your beauty arsenal being an acne offender. Also, be sure to remove your makeup before going to bed. Let the face freely breathe. Makeup Brushes - Clean them often. It would be best if you did this each night before going to bed. Remember, acne contains bacteria and you don't want to spread bacteria on your face each morning. Oatmeal Mask - An oatmeal mask is a wonderful choice for acneic skin. It helps to calm inflammation, soothes redness, and exfoliates the skin. All you have to do is mix up a serving or two as you normally would do for breakfast. After cooking, stir in one-fourth cup of honey. Apply to your skin, while being careful to avoid the eyes. Relax for about 15-20 minutes. Wash off with warm water. Pick & Squeeze - Never pick or squeeze a pimple. Most likely, you'll only cause irritation, inflammation, possibly cause the acne to spread, and leave a lasting reminder of your pop a zit session--a scar. Pillowcase - Change your pillowcase often. Just because you're asleep doesn't mean your face isn't producing oil that is being absorbed into the pillowcase. Product Selection - Be sure all of the skin care products that are used on your face are formulated for your skin type and don't contains ingredients that may exacerbate your acne. For example, oily skin should steer clear of oil-based products. The last thing oily skin needs is more oil. Smoking - The medical community is somewhat divided on the issue of the effects that smoking has upon acneic skin, acne formation and the treatment of acne. However, it is a known fact that smokers tend to heal at a slower rate than a nonsmoker does. Therefore, if you are suffering from any form of ulcerated cystic acne or pustules (pimples with pus), then you can expect the healing process to take longer. Stress - Stress can have a major impact upon our bodies and the results of it is more readily seen on the skin. Stress can aggravate existing breakouts or cause new ones to emerge. Studies show that stress-related inflammation might be the culprit causing breakouts. Sunscreen - We all know that the sun's rays can be very damaging to he skin and especially the delicate skin on the face. When selecting a sunscreen for acneic skin, be sure to choose one that is oil-free. Towel - Always use a clean towel to pat dry your face. Never use one that you or everyone else in your house is using to wipe and/or dry their hands. Washing The Face - Don't fall victim to the misconception that more is better. Over washing the face will only serve to strip it, possibly produce more oils, and cause irritation. Use an acne-friendly cleanser and wash no more than twice a day. Remember, just because your acne lessens or clears up, does not mean you will be able to lay off from incorporating the various acne skin care tips. One never knows what is brewing under the skin and a pimple doesn't just instantly appear overnight. Stay diligent with your acne regimen to maintain healthy skin.
